Rebekah S. Laird Ruthstrom

1954-2022

On Thursday, December 15, 2022 (at 12:34 pm), Rebekah S. Laird Ruthstrom, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away at sixty-eight years old.

Born August 31, 1954, to Joe and Ruby Laird in Pasadena, Texas, Rebekah graduated from Pasadena High School in 1973. She started her career with Daniel Dror in the 1980s. She went on to run the daily operations as his secretary and treasurer and even served as CFO of some ventures, retiring after 30+ years at 62.

Rebekah was previously active in the volunteer fire department in Kemah as a support member and was on the safety team at Clear Creek Community Church for a few years, she always loved helping others. Recently she spent much of her time planning for and being with her family, which is where she was happiest. Keeping a pantry and refrigerator organized by date and time seemed to be her favorite pastime until her husband came home, and they could soak in the pool or spa. She loved taking care of her home and her beautiful yard and always seemed to have some sort of project going.

Rebekah is predeceased by her father Joseph Laird. She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Steve Ruthstrom, and her son, Clifton O'Banion, from her first husband, Dan. Also survived by her two sisters, her mother, her stepchildren, Danielle and JR, and four grandchildren, on whom she doted. Her pups, Colt and Smokie will also miss her.

The memorial service will be (was) held on Monday, January 16, at 10 a.m. at Clear Creek Community Church in Friendswood, Texas.

What you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments but what is woven into the lives of others.
